Alpha-MethylTryptamine (CAS: 299-26-3), also known as AMT, αMT, and more officially 2-(1H-indol-3-yl)-1-methyl-ethylamine is a little known but fascinating compound that has actually been studied for well over 50 years by scientists and researchers.
Whilst most compounds in the tryptamine class are impossible for scientists to research without a Home Office license, this particular one isn't covered by any existing regulations and therefore researchers can buy AMT and take advantage of an exciting opportunity for laboratory research.
It was widely sold in Russia as an antidepressant medicine in 5mg and 10mg tablets until the 1980s. Please note however, this compound is not and has never been approved as a medicine in the UK and like our other products it is prohibited under our terms and conditions of trade to use it for any form of in-vivo research - it is sold STRICTLY NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.
We have sourced some extremely pure and high quality AMT that we will put on general sale from Thursday 26th August 2010. Initial stock is very limited so orders are restricted to 250mg (one quarter of a gram) to begin with until a larger batch arrives, if we decide to get one. 250mg is enough compound for about eight typical laboratory experiments, for example a melting point test.
Our AMT is in the freebase powder form, not the hcl salt form. We are a competent supplier and well aware of the differences between AMT and 5-MEO-AMT (we DO NOT sell the latter) and we don't get the two compounds confused as some suppliers allegedly have in the past. In any case the smell of AMT freebase is very distinctive and easy to identify!
We do not recommend inexperienced researchers purchase or study AMT. Indeed, if your lab isn't equiped with an analytical balance or set of scales capable of weighing amounts of compound as low as 10mg, with an accuracy of at least +-5mg then please do not order this product as you are clearly not equiped to conduct any bonafide scientific research.
As with all our other products, we only accept AMT orders from and deliver to the UK.
We are giving away free of charge ten 50mg samples to researchers, subject to our terms and conditions. The first 10 researchers to email us following the publication of this blog post with the correct answer to the following question "What is the molecular weight of Alpha-MethylTryptamine freebase?" will be the ones who reserve them!
To apply to reserve a sample, please use the email subject "Free AMT Sample", and in the body of the email use the following format:
1) Your full name.
2) Your answer to the question "What is the molecular weight of Alpha-MethylTryptamine freebase?".
3) Please confirm that in applying for one of the ten free 50mg samples, you agree your acceptance of our terms and conditions of trade in full.
4) Your delivery address.
You will be emailed back to confirm if you have been successful, and the samples will be despatched as soon as the product is in stock.
